Macromolecular Modelling — Numerical Calculations

  • Chapter
Rheology

Abstract

In the recent past a considerable effort has been made by several authors to refine the soft dumbell model of macromolecules in order to account for the finite deformation effects. The model improvements are mostly sought on the basis of nonlinear spring elasticity. Such an approach is’marked by some shortcomings which manifest themselves most notably in the unrealistic prediction of constant shear viscosity (independent of shear rate).1
