Abstract
Poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide), PPO* resin, exhibits thermodynamic compatibility with polystyrene over the entire composition range. A single glass transition temperature (Tg) is observed for a blend of these polymers when measured by differential scanning calorimetry.1 This behavior is somewhat surprising considering the large differences between physical properties of these two homopolymers.
