Abstract
We perfused the perilymphatic space of the guinea-pig cochlea with an artificial perilymph of a balanced ionic composition. The indicators for the metabolic situation of the cochlea are the cochlear microphonics (CM), the oxygen partial pressure and the concentration of different metabolites of the perfused artificial perilymph. CM and oxygen tension are recorded simultaneously. The fractioned perfusate drops are examined later biochemically. The animal is narcotized by urethane, relaxed and machine-made respired. Changes of the metabolic status are induced by respiring with chosen gas compositions or by admixtures to the artificial perilymph before perfusion.
