Abstract

The last ten years are noticed to be of increased interest in the study of the human heart as the source of an electromagnetic field that is periodically changing in time. For the complex investigation of the electromagnetic heart action it is necessary to investigate all components of electromagnetic field, i.e. the electric component and magnetic component, both being a function of space and time. While the electric component is studied and investigated for decades in different branches of electrocardiography, the magnetic component of the field is more systematically observed and studied only for several years. This was the consequence of the relatively delayed development of methods for measuring the extreme weak magnetic fields, to which the fields of biomagnetic origin belong.
