Abstract
Local cell mediated immunity (CMI) is a feature of certain intestinal diseases, including food sensitive enteropathies (FSE) and these disorders exhibit a similar pattern of villus atrophy, crypt hyperplasia and lymphocytic infiltration of the epithelium (1). Although the mucosal pathology shows both hyperplastic and destructive features, the underlying basis of the different changes is not fully understood.
