Abstract
The impacts of river regulation on downstream habitats have received frequent study, and good reviews are given in Ward (1982), Armitage (1984) and Décamps (1984). The impacts of hydro-developments that include a reservoir are well known, however, little attention has been given to projects that lack a reservoir; situations in which only the flow rate has been modified. This paper deals with a comparison of the macroinvertebrate fauna in the up- and downstream sections of the Rhône River, close to Lyon (France), where only the flow rate has been modified.
