Solar UV Radiation as a Selective Force in the Evolution of Terrestrial Plant Life

  • Chapter
The Role of Solar Ultraviolet Radiation in Marine Ecosystems

Part of the book series: NATO Conference Series ((MARS,volume 7))

Abstract

This paper will briefly reflect on the possible role of solar UV in the early stages of evolution of terrestrial plants and will examine a steep gradient of natural solar UV-B that currently exists on the Earth.
