Abstract
A study has been made of the transition properties of poly(2,6-dimethyl 1-, 4-phenylene ether) (PPO® polymer) using the wide-temperature range adia-batic calorimeter previously described1 to measure the heat capacity and thereby examine transition behavior of the polymer from 80 to 570°K. In addition, differential scanning calorimetry was used to measure the melting point depressions of mixtures of the polymer with 1-chloronaphthalene, and from these data the heat and entropy of fusion were calculated.
