Abstract
Hurler’s syndrome is one of a group of diseases known as the mucopolysaccharidoses. These conditions are all similar in that they all owe their characteristics to accumulations of mucopolysaccharides (complex sugars), in the tissues of the body. Enzymes necessary to the breakdown of these complex sugars are defective in these conditions. The enzyme responsible differs in each syndrome of this group.
