Abstract
Rotator cuff disease is the most commonly treated shoulder condition by orthopedic surgeons. Despite this high prevalence, there is still a lack of consensus regarding the indications and timing of surgical and nonsurgical treatment. To improve the ability to consistently and appropriately treat patients with rotator cuff disease, an algorithm-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment can be utilized. This chapter utilizes a case-based approach to highlight each group of patients in the treatment algorithm to aid in its understanding and utility.
