Abstract
After proposing marriage, Milt and Helen marry and move to a family farm to take up a life of ranching. Milt’s mother and aunt go over seas with Virginia and Joseph and get caught in the early stages of World War I. Milt and Helen give birth to their son, Billy, in 1913 and settle into a ranch of their own in 1917 as the U.S. gets deeper into the war effort. About the same time, the 100-inch telescope is completed opening up a position on the mountain for a janitor and part time night time assistant, that Milt decides to take.
