Abstract
This chapter focuses on the contribution of inflammatory and immune processes to the links between stress and coronary heart disease (CHD). The aim is to demonstrate that the impact of stress on CHD development and prognosis is likely to be mediated in part through activation of innate and adaptive immune pathways, with inflammatory responses playing a major role. Understanding of these pathways may have implications for prevention and for the management of patients with established CHD.
