Abstract

Techniques in computer holography are summarized and briefly over-viewed in this chapter. Several steps are commonly required for creating a large-scale CGH to display vivid 3D images. This chapter deals with the procedure. We also survey other techniques than those explained after this chapter in this book.

Notes

  1. 1.

The author does not support this limited meaning of the word “digital holography,” i.e., not approve of referring to only the recording step as “digital holography.” This word should be used more widely.

  2. 2.

    Notation \(g_{\mathrm {obj}}(x, y; z)\) means that the object field is a function of x and y, while z is a parameter.

  3. 3.

There is a hybrid technique that makes use of the features of both ray-oriented and wave-oriented methods [113].
