Abstract

This study took the cover design of the first ten issues of the Taiwanese design magazine founded in the 1960s, “Industrial Design”, as the research target. The purpose of the study is to examine the similarities and differences between the two sets of publications of Industrial Design and Bauhaus, through which to explore the continuation and blending of Bauhaus visual design in the cultural context of Taiwan after half a century of communication and development. The research results show that Industrial Design has continued Bauhaus’s visual design language in the color application, graphics composition and layout design, while the font style is full of distinct characteristics of the times and region. Through the analysis, it is found that the subjects are more interested in visual design with strong color contrast, rich graphics composition, multiple design techniques and spatial representation. This study aims to explore the influence and spread of the Bauhaus movement in Taiwan’s visual design, hoping to contribute to the construction of Taiwan’s graphic design history and provide it to the design field.
