Intellectual Capital, Smart Technologies and Digitalization

Abstract

Smart technologies are profoundly changing the way organizations conduct their business. Among such technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Blockchain are considered the most disruptive ones. Our study investigates the potential impacts of AI and the Blockchain on business models by employing a structured literature review (SLR). We analyzed 182 documents between academic sources and professional reports, identifying the potential influences on the single building blocks of the business model. Results highlight 97 potential impacts for the AI, and 40 for the Blockchain, widespread among all the building blocks, including the society. Our findings open up to practical as well as research implications, offering food for thought to both organizations as well as academics.
