Abstract
Imaging studies play a key role in the evaluation of third window lesions. When a third window lesion is suspected due to a patient’s history, physical exam, and audiologic testing, appropriate imaging helps to make the definitive diagnosis [1]. In fact, the most commonly diagnosed third window pathology (superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD)) was first described in 1998 with computed tomography (CT) findings playing a significant role [2, 3]. Furthermore, most patients with third window lesions will have an unremarkable tympanic membrane and middle ear, making imaging crucial [4].
