Abstract

This chapter presents basic concepts of relativity, both special and general, aimed at readers who do not have previous knowledge of the subject. Of course, there is a plethora of literature on the subject. Good references for main results are [57], [40] and [55]. Since having a clear concept of the stress-energy tensor appearing in Einstein’s equation of general relativity requires certain elementary concepts in classical fluid mechanics, the chapter begins with a brief synopsis of this part of mechanics.
