Abstract
Production of large pieces made of thermoplastic composites like plates or shells is a challenging issue for nowadays industry. Thermoplastic composites are composites that use a thermoplastic polymer as a matrix. This category still represents a niche market because of the difficulties associated to its processing. Several reliable manufacturing processes are now available for building up thermoplastic laminated structures. Among them, the automated tape placement (ATP) appears to be an appealing strategy.
