Abstract

Interference Reduction is one of fundamental issues to be addressed in wireless communication when energy conservation is considered. Through the topology control method, this is done by adjusting the transmission radii of nodes while preserving the network connectivity. Under the receiver-centric model, the problem of minimizing the maximum interference of a wireless sensor network has been proved to be NP-hard. In this paper, an effective algorithm called Best Neighbor Algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms an existing popular algorithm called Nearest Neighbor Algorithm with regard to solution quality for almost all instances randomly generated.
