Abstract
The author joined the male-dominated workforce at NASA Johnson Space Center in 1979. She helped develop the first computerized planning and scheduling tool (the Crew Activity Planning System) for flight document preparations; utilized simulators and worked with astronauts to test and verify flight procedures for contingency cases such as launch day deorbits, loss of cooling systems, and loss of primary computer systems; and participated in training exercises on console in Mission Control in preparation for the first space shuttle flight. During this year, the author got married and moved to Clear Lake. Her husband also got a job with NASA and began training to become a Guidance Officer.
