Abstract
The kidney is a complex, vascular constantly mobile pedicled organ related to the lower chest, loin, major upper abdominal organs and great vessels.
Twenty percent of the circulation pulses through the end arteries each minute in close proximity to a complex and relatively poorly supported collecting system.
In order to obtain safe and useful percutaneous access to the renal collecting system, it is essentioal to have a sound knowledge of this intricate anatomy from the skin to the renal pelvis.
This chapter outlines the anatomy and its applied relevance with respect to percutaneous renal surgery.
