Quality Evaluation in Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging

Abstract

This chapter provides the necessary information and tools for accreditation as part of the quality improvement continuum. The importance of accreditation will be emphasized. Each of the pathways for laboratory accreditation for SPECT imaging will be examined as well as the differences between the pathways. These pathways include the American College of Radiology, the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, and the Joint Commission. Pathways to physician certification will also be discussed. The importance of both accreditation and certification to laboratory quality will be discussed.
