Abstract

The paper is devoted to analyze the role of IT in managing knowledge in organization. Organizational structure is presented as a factor through which IT influences knowledge management and facilitates its better usability in organization. Empirical studies concerning this topic are presented. First part of studies describes how the organic-type organizational structure influences knowledge management in organization. Then, second part is devoted to analyze IT as a factor facilitating reorganization into more organic-type organizational structure. Conclusion of the paper is that IT influences organization ability to reorganize into organic-type structure and because of that IT can be perceived as a factor affecting knowledge management in organization also in indirect way.
