Abstract

In the last centuries mathematical research results were published on paper, as articles, reports, monographs, etc. The permanently increasing number of mathematical publications required to develop powerful information management services and tools for search and access to mathematical knowledge. 1868, the ‘Jahrbuch über die Fortschritte der Mathematik’ was founded to inform the mathematical community and interested scientists on the progress of mathematical knowledge. Also today, its successors, the bibliographic databases zbMATH and MathSciNet, provide an overview about recent developments in mathematics. But the digital era has changed the situation dramatically. All kinds of information are stored in digital form. Mathematical research results are not longer limited to mathematical publications. New types and formats of mathematical data and knowledge tackle new challenges also to information services. The talk addresses the subject of Mathematical SoftWare (MathSW) in the context of Mathematical Research Data (MathRD) and describes some challenges to create information services for this data from a personal view.
