Abstract
There are many different cervical injuries that can be treated nonsurgically using traction. These closed reduction techniques often include the use of Gardner-Wells tongs or halo apparatus. These techniques involve increasing the tension on the cervical spine by adding weight until alignment is reached. These closed reduction procedures may be preferred over surgery as they are cheap and effective, while avoiding some of the complications of surgical correction.
