Abstract
Mechanical obstructions within the gastrointestinal tract are common complications that can lead to significant morbidity in the post-bariatric surgery patient. Patients often present with nausea, vomiting, and food intolerance. Dysphagia, regurgitation, and dyspepsia are often seen when an obstruction occurs and require a thorough evaluation. Endoscopy not only allows for investigation of these symptoms but also can often provide a mechanism to treat the obstruction. This chapter highlights different types and locations of obstructions and strictures in various bariatric procedures as well as methods in treating them.
