Abstract

Giant inguinal hernias present challenges to both patient and surgeon alike. Patients presenting with such advanced hernias often have advanced comorbid conditions as well, raising the risks of an already complex repair. Loss of abdominal domain often further complicates perioperative management. This chapter will detail the anatomy and pathogenesis of such giant inguinal hernias, as well as detail several operative strategies for repair.
