Bisexuality and the Western Christian Church

Abstract

This chapter looks at the problematic area of bisexuality and non-monogamy (polyamory). Whilst many bisexual people distance themselves from the notion that they are more prone to polyamory than their monosexual peers, it cannot be denied from this study at least, that eight of 54 bisexual Christians interviewed (14%) were practising, or had practised, non-monogamy. Attitudes from both UK and US participants towards non-traditional relationship configurations were documented through the lens of their Christian faith, including specific issues faced by those who found themselves in mixed-orientation marriages.
