Abstract

The point of departure for this study is the phenomenon of clustering. As a consequence of clustering successful companies agglomerate in one country or region, while marginal organisations disappear. To prevent becoming a victim of this development, a company should analyse whether its industry is subject to clustering and develop strategic options in order to profit from this trend towards centralisation. Aiming at an amplification of strategic management’s perspective by the development of a cluster-based tool for company-centred environmental analysis, this study evolved along the following steps.
