Summary: Reflections: Types and „socio-cultural atoms“ of narcissistic behaviour

„Narcissistic behaviour“ is defined as a special form of human behaviour, actually as a withdrawal from – or rather a functionalizing of – social relationships while simultaneously developing unreal delusions of grandeur which serve as a compensation for crises and impairments in respect of one’s self-confidence being experienced as distressing feelings of despair, emptiness, meaninglessness, inferiority, and boredom. Starting from this definition, types of narcissistic behaviour will be developed and linked with the psychodramatic concepts of the social or cultural atom. An example will illustrate this way of acting.

Zusammenfassung:

„Narzisstisches Verhalten“ wird als eine spezielle Form menschlichen Verhaltens definiert, nämlich als Rückzug aus bzw. Funktionalisierung von sozialen Beziehungen bei gleichzeitiger Entwicklung von unrealistischen Größenphantasien, wobei dieses Verhalten der Kompensation von Selbstwertkrisen und Selbstwertstörungen dient, die als quälende Gefühle von Verzweiflung, Leere, Sinnlosigkeit, Minderwertigkeit und Langeweile erlebt werden. Von dieser Definition ausgehend, werden Typen narzisstischen Verhaltens entwickelt und mit den psychodramatischen Konzepten des „sozialen“ bzw. „kulturellen Atoms“ verbunden, sowie ein Erklärungsansatz für dieses Verhalten beispielhaft beschrieben.
