Abstract

Information sharing is not strictly a technical problem. But, we believe that a reasoned technical approach can address the technical concerns, and also ameliorate the non-technical issues. We have designed and prototyped key components of an information sharing system that uses semantic web standards for description of information available and needed, uses a broker that accepts profiles for information available and needed, and uses policy rules to approve any brokered information exchanges. We compare this approach to related work and discuss possible future research.
