Ein traumatisches Ereignis tritt plötzlich und unerwartet ein. Es setzt die üblichen Abwehrmaßnahmen (Kampf oder Flucht) vorübergehend außer Kraft. Kennzeichnend ist ein passagerer oder auch länger andauernder vollständiger Verlust der HandlungsfÄhigkeit des betroffenen Menschen. Die plötzliche Reizüberschwemmung führt zu einer tiefen inneren Erschütterung.
