Abstract

Recently, data traffic is rapidly exceeding voice traffic for the increasing demand from the Internet in Korea. And, it’s also known that some of the traffics are due to the mobile subscribers such as PCS, PDA, and so on. To meet this terrific demand on the backbone network, it’s better to use existing optical fibers fully than to install more optical fibers simply. For this reason, All Optical Network System with WDM is spotlighted nowadays.

In this paper, PI(Population-Information factor) method will be introduced to make a modeling which is fit to the environment of Korea, and the telecommunication model with WDM for Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) will be designed. For this purpose, a simulation tool to design the telecommunication network for KEPCO was developed with Visual C and this is used to analyze the designed model. This result can be used to design and simulate functions and performance when All Optical Network with WDM is constructed.
