Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death in the United States. Obesity is one of several known risk factors to develop CAD. In the United States, obesity is a growing epidemic, with 65% of all adults in the overweight range (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2). This results in an increase in the prevalence of obesity by more than 75% since 1991.1
