Abstract
The mechanistic point of view that the ultimate scope of physics is to “explain” the whole of the physical world and the numerous phenomena in it is no longer widely acceptable and hides behind cosmogonic and theocratic beliefs. It is rather safer to say that nowadays we believe that physics describes the physical phenomena by means of “pictures”, which are constructed according to strictly defined procedures. What a “picture” of a physical phenomenon is and how it is constructed is a very serious philosophical subject.
