Abstract
Global manufacturing industry is experiencing a profound evolution which is characterized as high value, high technology, and information-based. At the same time, sustainable green manufacturing — low carbon economy — becomes a main trend and a human-common strategic objective. According to the domestic situations, entity manufacturing industry is still dominating our national economy in the long term. As one of the largest countries in the global manufacturing industry, most of our products are, however, still in the low end of the international industrial chain, providing the basic raw materials, production and consumption products to the world. The low resource utilization rate and productivity where a large gap still exists compared with the developed countries, makes our resources and environment burdens extremely heavy and becomes a bottleneck of the sustainable development of the economy. Intensifying the green-based technologies research and development in the manufacturing industry, therefore, becomes particularly urgent.
