Abstract

In this Chapter, we examine the general properties of the Poincar´e group, i.e.the group of inhomogeneous Lorentz transformations, which are space-time coordinate transformations between any two inertial frames of reference. Then we consider those unitary irreducible representations of this group which are the most suitable for the description of the quantum mechanical states of one or more particles.
