Abstract

With the improvement of welfare policy and medical conditions, the health home life of the people appears into the focus of the government and public attention. Based on ZigBee and embedded Ethernet technology, the paper proposes an energy-efficient scheme to manage the power consumption on the sensor nodes and the gateway. In addition, a low-cost INCS (Intelligent Network Caring System) is developed to use the proposed scheme to support the requirements of real-time remote monitor and caring for the elder, the disabled, the infants and other caring needing groups. Utilizing the embedded Ethernet, the system is connected to the Internet via the home gateway, so the users could get the data from the nodes of detecting physiology parameters, safety monitoring, video & audio interactive and home gateway via the WEB server from the remote PCs or mobile phones. The experimental results show that INCS achieves superior performance and power efficiency.
