Abstract

General maps of the plant cover, understood to be a complex of different phytocoenoses, are also called maps of vegetation zonation or maps of vegetation regionalization. These are based on qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the plant (vegetation) formations, using quite different criteria (e.g. Lavrenko 1950, 1964; Doniœå 1979; Ivan 1979; Rivas MartÍnez 1987; Ozenda 1994; Ogureeva et al. 1979).
