Abstract

The accumulations of snow at the base of slopes and screes, often caused by avalanches, create a habitat of which very little is known. Here we find a highly specialized vegetation completing its entire lifecycle in just 2 months or a little more—between the melting of the snow in June and the first snowfalls at the end of August.
