Simultaneous Measurement of Immunophenotype and DNA Content of Bone Marrow Cells

Abstract

The measurement of DNA content by flow cytometry is widely used for the evaluation of proliferative activity in single cell suspensions. The simultaneous recognition of immunophenotype and cell cycle phases may offer the opportunity to measure the proliferative activity from parts of heterogeneous cell populations, such as hematopoietic bone marrow cells. This is also possible using a laser flow cytometer by combining fluorescence dyes with similar excitation spectra but varying emission wavelengths [1, 2].
