Abstract
The main objective of this review is to summarize recent findings on the functional consequences of acute regional ischemia. In addition to summarizing what we know about regional function during ischemia, a second objective of this paper is to emphasize what we do not know and to suggest potential avenues of additional investigation that may be worth pursuing.
