Interventional Radiology of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Patient with Complications

  • Chapter
Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in Liver Transplantation

Part of the book series: Medical Radiology ((Med Radiol Diagn Imaging))

Abstract

In children with end-stage liver disease, whole liver transplantation or split or reduced-size liver transplantation, including living related donor partial liver transplantation (LRLT), may be performed (Broelsch et al. 1991). Between 1991 and 1999, over 500 LRLT procedures were performed at Kyoto University Hospital. The results of these transplantations reveal that LRLT is a promising solution to the graft shortage in pediatric liver transplantation (Tanaka et al. 1994).
