Zusammenfassung

Die Verletzungen des Herzens und der großen thorakalen Gefäße können schneller als die Verletzungen jedes anderen Organs zum raschen Tod des Individuums führen. Bei Verletzungen des Herzens führt dessen völliger Funktionsverlust innerhalb weniger Minuten zum irreversiblen Untergang anderer lebenswichtiger Organe. Diese Erkenntnis hat seit Menschengedenken dazu geführt, daß Tötungsintentionen direkt auf das Organ Herz zielen. Aus dieser zentralen, unmittelbar lebenswichtigen Bedeutung resultiert die besondere Rolle, die das Herz in alien Kulturen einnimmt.
