Abstract

In recent years, the management of tumours and tumour-like lesions of the foot and ankle has improved, and this is due in part to advances in imaging. The introduction of cross-sectional imaging, particularly magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, has had a major impact in tumour imaging, particularly in surgical staging. True osseous or soft-tissue neoplasms of the foot and ankle are relatively uncommon and are greatly outnumbered by tumour-like conditions. This chapter discusses the role of imaging in tumours and tumour-like conditions of the foot and ankle and is followed by an illustrated review of the various bone and soft-tissue conditions according to tissue of origin.
