Studies on Collagen Synthesis Applying Labelled Proline

  • Chapter
Connective Tissues

Abstract

Using labelled proline for investigations on collagen synthesis or its turnover is an effective method, making possible the collection of data by measuring the specific activity of hydroxyproline. Further information is received by fractionation of collagen. Application of these methods was aimed at receiving further information on collagen synthesis and turnover in skin and organs of the intestinal tract.
