Abstract
The lecture describes tasks and organization of a working group of the Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany on “Investigations on the Carcinogenic Burden by Air Pollution in Man”. In our institute it could be shown in dropping experiments in 3400 female NMRI-mice that noncarcinogenic hydrocarbons are not able to compensate the effect of carcinogenic hydrocarbons, and that a mixture of carcinogenic PAH is more active than only 1 substance of the mixture. Probably an overall synergism is present.
