Zusammenfassung

Das Gehirn verfügt über sehr sinnvolle Einrichtungen zur Aufrechterhaltung seiner Homöostase. Damit bleibt es weitgehend von den meisten im übrigen Organismus ablaufenden Störungen des Wasser- und Elektrolythaushaltes bzw. des Sauren-Basen-Haushaltes geschützt. So ist beispielsweise das Gehirn beim peripheren Ödem kardialer, renaler oder hepatischer Genese nicht beteiligt.
