Photomorphogenesis

Part of the book series: Encyclopedia of Plant Physiology ((PLANT,volume 16))

Abstract

Development in multicellular organisms is usually discussed from the point of view of growth, differentiation, and morphogenesis. “Growth” refers to quantitative changes; “differentiation” refers to qualitative differences which appear between different cells and tissues within a given organism; “morphogenesis” refers to the obvious changes in form and structure during the process of development.
