Diagnostic Procedures in Pancreatic Disease

Abstract

Since its introduction in routine gastroenterological practice 15 years ago, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has provided clinicians with a useful tool for diagnosis and management of pancreatic and biliary diseases. Although noninvasive techniques such as ultrasonography and computed tomography challenge ERCP in the field of pancreatology, the endoscopic method remains a reliable technique and is often considered for reference when pathological or surgical information is lacking.
